“Dine on a Lime” foodie trail launches in the BOP

A new venture from Tourism Bay of Plenty is encouraging food lovers to scoot their way around town to locally recommended eateries.

The organisation has worked with Kitchen Takeover’s Stacey Jones to produce “Dine on a Lime” – a foodie trail featuring 18 favourite foodie stops in Mount Maunganui, as recommended by Bay of Plenty locals.

Tourism Bay of Plenty Chief Executive, Kristin Dunne, says the venture is just the start of a new focus on the Bay of Plenty’s food story.

“We really want to highlight our amazing food scene and encourage locals and visitors to try out this new food trail.

:The venture is also about creating new food experiences for people to enjoy as well as supporting local businesses.”

There are 18 eateries featured in the guide including: Pizzaroma, The General, Vitality Organics, Izakai and Mount Made Ice-Cream.

One of the stops on the trail, Spongedrop Bakery, was included by locals for its amazing cheese scones.

Danielle Cubis, owner of Spongedrop Bakery, applauds the idea.

“There are some small or boutique businesses around the Mount that deserve to be showcased and I think Lime is a cool and quirky way to get from place to place. By taking a Lime scooter around the Mount, parking won’t be a problem and you’re keeping another car off the road.”

Stacey Jones from Kitchen Takeover said she can't wait for people to scoot around the Mount and find a new local favourite.

“We encourage people to scoot safely and be mindful of pedestrians. Ultimately, we just want people to enjoy the fun dining experiences the Bay of Plenty has on offer.
This is our first project to highlight the Bay’s foodie scene and there’s plenty more in the pipeline so watch this space.”

Lime’s Public Affairs Manager Lauren Mentjox says the foodie trail is a clean, green and fun way for people to experience what Mount Maunganui has to offer.

“We are excited to work with Tourism Bay of Plenty on this innovative initiative and support local businesses.

"Lime scooters have quickly become a popular way to get around in the Mount and we hope people will continue to think twice before taking the car.”
