Beaches
Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty is surrounded by water with beautiful beaches our gateway to enjoying the stunning coastline. Activities available include surfing, surfing lessons, fishing, scenic tours, dolphin watching and much more.
Popular beaches in Tauranga include:
Mt Maunganui
The main beach is at the base of Mauao (Mount Maunganui) and offers a wide expanse of white sandy beach. Mt Maunganui beach is ideal for swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, sun bathing and playing. Access to the beach is easy, although in peak times you may need to park further away from the main beach.
Pilot Bay
Pilot Bay is located on the harbour side of the Mount Maunganui peninsula offering calm waters, perfect for swimming and a favourite for families with young children. Pilot Bay is ideal all year round and is ideal for paddle boarding and kayaking.
Papamoa Beach
Papamoa beach is approx. fifteen minutes drive from Mount Maunganui offering a large surf beach for your enjoyment. The Papamoa Surf Life Saving Club are on patrol during the summer months.
